The Insight Method of Teaching Math. I have a different way of teaching math. I do not first explain how to solve the problem. My way can be enjoyable. My way is supported by a legitimate theory of learning. My way teaches the more general skills of thinking and solving problems.
Teaching kids real math with computers. The Hartley Library has hard copies of all NCTM journals, plus others from other mathematical organisations. These are a very useful resource for teachers, given that many of the articles are written by teachers about what has worked well in their classrooms.
Teaching Math 4 Understanding is a project that was undertaken by a grad student of Memorial University, Elaina Johnson, which investigates teaching math through a problem-based approach. This blog is a product of this project and will be used as a means of communicating and highlighting observations, significant findings and events of using this approach in a Grade Six classroom at Bishop White School in Port Rexton, Newfoundland.
